I recently had the chance to attend 2 full Mapleseed events and wanted to write a bit about what I saw.
Compared to some of the other shooting clinics or courses I’ve been to, Mapleseed was:
- Inexpensive. For a full day of training, it was a fraction of what I’ve paid for other shooting courses. I think this part is pretty important, because less than 1% of firearms owners have taken any courses beyond their initial firearms licensing. We need courses for the other 99% to take and they need to be approachable.
- Extremely well prepared. They had handouts, flip books, gear for all weather situations, chamber flags, tarps to catch brass, loaner gear of all types, they’d make a Boy Scout Troop Leader weep with joy on how well prepared they were.
- Extremely well practiced trainers. The multiple trainers each took a different training or practice segment and the quality between them was consistently high. They each did their training segments without having to check notes.
